Post-op Care

The most critical information for a parent involves knowing how to manage a child who is numb. We will show both the parent and child how to be careful with their “sleepy” mouth following fillings, extractions or crowns. In the meantime, it is important to keep the lip, cheek and tongue out of harms way (those chomping teeth!). Fortunately and unfortunately, the child won’t know they bit themselves until it’s too late. We will stress the importance of keeping the cotton pillow in-between the teeth until the area is no longer numb. The numb feeling usually lasts about an hour and a half.
